Cultivating Mindfulness & Total Relaxation – this Zoom class will be presented by Ying on Wednesday evenings from 7:30-8:30pm.
No mindfulness or meditation experience is needed.
The first 15-20 minutes of the class are devoted to a reading from one of Thich Nhat Hanh’s books on mindfulness practice. Participants are encouraged to practice that specific mindfulness exercise alongside each individual’s regular mindfulness practice. Following the reading, Ying, or a volunteer participant, facilitates a total relaxation session that emphasizes mindfulness of various body parts and the interdependent and interconnected nature of all beings.
Instructor Ying, now retired, was a Director of Employee Wellness for the Ohio State University Health Plan. As an Advanced Practice Nurse in Community Health, Ying’s professional experience included developing a new wellness program, and designing operation protocols to deliver wellness services such as health coaching programs, health education, and chronic disease management. Ying first learned Transcendental Meditation in 1973, and then practiced many years in the Japanese Soto Zen Tradition. Her practice is now devoted to the tradition of Zen Master, Thich Nhat Hanh.
Since 2014, Ying has been facilitating a Zen meditation group that meets on Saturdays at the Tredyffrin Public Library. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, she started Cultivating Mindfulness & Total Relaxation as a virtual class.
If you are interested in attending, please contact the Narberth Community Library by 1:00pm on Tuesdays, so that we can send your email to Ying, and she can send you the Zoom link for the class.
